After walking from the CP to the river, a gentle stroll by the side of the Medway via Allington Lock, where we cross the river to join the Medway Valley Walk to Aylesford. We continue on the MVW to Burham Marshes where we turn off and start a climb, gentle to Burham and then more steeply to the top of the downs and the NDW where we have a compulsory stop, with lunch at the Robin Hood or picnic in nearby Burham Common. After lunch we continue along the NDW to Blue Bell Hill (the highest point with beautiful views) and Kit’s Coty House before meandering back to Cobtree Manor Park.
Meet at Cobtree Manor Park CP (charge £1.50). Leave M20 on sliproad to A229 (Maidstone/Chatham). Keep left on sliproad towards Maidstone/Chatham or you will end up back on the M20 but get in the right lane when you are on the approach to the roundabout. At roundabout take 3rd exit to A229 towards Maidstone. At next roundabout take 3rd exit to Forstal Road. After 1m CP is on right.

The rest of the club may be Slovenia this week, but this is your chance to climb the peaks around Otford and Kemsing. Expect plenty of hills - about 800 metres of ascent, the equivalent of a Lakeland peak. A serious challenge, with a short lunch stop in Kemsing.
Car park is on right down Shacklands Rd, off Badger's Mount roundabout.

By popular demand, I am repeating the walk that I led last year, hopefully with better weather. A long (8.5m), easy morning with the only uphill climb being out of Bluewater. Then its down and along the Thames and Darent to Dartford for lunch. There are many pubs and cafes or you can catch one of the many buses back to the car. The afternoon is a bit more strenuous after we leave the Darent Valley and climb over undulating country back to Bluewater.
NOTE EARLY START TIME. Meet at the far North edge of the Winter Garden CP (in front of M&S), near the round-about and away from the shops.

Beyond the Wantsum - the two faces of the Isle of Thanet

We see some of Thanet's poorer rural and industrial parts, walking through the hinterland of Ramsgate and Broadstairs via the beautiful St Peters village and Northdown Park to lunch at the White Swan at Reading Street. Then we move on to tourist Thanet - its more affluent face. Joining the coast path at the North Foreland lighthouse we visit four of Broadstairs' seven bays. Then we pass Ramsgate's beaches, marina and port as we follow the coast back to Pegwell Bay.
Meet in large public car park approximately 100m North East of the Viking Ship Hugin. There are toilets behind the Viking Ship Café which should be open from 10am.
